LESCOTT ON A SHORT TERM DEAL WITH SUNDERLAND

Sunderland offer Lescott a short-term deal

Sunderland have offered Joleon Lescott a short term deal - as they prepare to sell Patrick van Aanholt to Crystal Palace.
Lescott, 34, has been training with Sunderland after being released by AEK Athens and Black Cats boss David Moyes wants to bring him in.
Dutch left back van Aanholt is in talks with Palace over a £9m move to Selhurst Park and Lescott will provide cover with Moyes looking to use the cash to strengthen elsewhere.
Palace are desperate to sign van Aanholt while they could yet go back for Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson even though the £6m deal hit the rocks last week.
Lescott played just four times for the Greek club before being released having started 30 games for Aston Villa as they were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Van Aanholt has played in 21 of Sunderland’s 22 games this campaign, with the Black Cats rock bottom of the table.
